East Texas Food Bank: How to Get Food
East Texas Food Bank does not publish who qualifies, so the pantry decides — here is what it does say, and who to ask. It is a regional food bank, so it supplies pantries rather than handing out groceries itself: below is how to find the one near you.
- Proof of income
- Pantry decides
- Cost
- Free
- Hands out food
- Through pantries
- use its locator to find one
- Hours
- Ask the pantry
Do I have to prove my income to get food from East Texas Food Bank?
East Texas Food Bank does not publish a requirement either way. Each partner pantry sets its own, so ask the pantry before you go, or call 903-597-3663. Do not assume you are turned away: most pantries in the Feeding America network serve anyone who says they need help.
How do I actually get food from East Texas Food Bank?
The food bank supplies more than 200 partner pantries rather than serving the public from its warehouse. Enter your address, city or ZIP code in the locator at easttexasfoodbank.org/findfood-3/ to find community produce distributions, food pantries and other feeding programs near you. The food bank also runs four Resource Centers of its own, in Longview, Lufkin, Texarkana and Tyler, each with a food pantry plus benefits assistance and other support services. Benefits Assistance staff help you apply for state programmes.
When is East Texas Food Bank open?
Hours are set by each pantry, not by East Texas Food Bank, and they change. We deliberately do not copy hours from other sites: check the locator on easttexasfoodbank.org or call 903-597-3663.
Does East Texas Food Bank cost anything?
Free. The Programs page says partner agencies distribute the food free of charge.
What do I need to bring?
Not stated on the East Texas Food Bank page we read. Bring an ID and something with your address if you have them, and bags or a box for the food — but do not stay home for lack of paperwork; most pantries take you anyway.
