When can I apply for help with my energy bill in Hawaii?
Program year runs October 1 - September 30. The Energy Credit (the regular benefit) is only accepted from June 1 to June 30 - one month a year, so it is CLOSED right now and the next window is June 2027. Energy Crisis Intervention is accepted year-round, but approvals each month are capped and fill quickly. A household may only get one type of H-HEAP payment per program year.

What do I need to bring?
Proof of Social Security number for every household member over 1 year old, citizenship documents for non-citizens, all earned and unearned income for the month before you apply (pay stubs, Social Security, child support, unemployment, self-employment), and your electric or gas bill / disconnection notice.
Worth knowing in Hawaii
