Do I have to prove my income to get food from Forgotten Harvest?
Forgotten Harvest does not publish a requirement either way. Each partner pantry sets its own, so ask the pantry before you go, or call 248-268-7756. Do not assume you are turned away: most pantries in the Feeding America network serve anyone who says they need help.
How do I actually get food from Forgotten Harvest?
Two routes. (1) Mobile pantries: the day-by-day list of locations and times is published on forgottenharvest.org/find-food/; they stay open until the end time or until the food runs out, so arrive early. Some sites register earlier than they distribute. (2) The Community Choice Market at 15000 W. Eight Mile Rd, Oak Park is a free grocery-style shop, appointment only: request an appointment online at forgottenharvest.org or leave a message at 248-268-7756. There is also a map of 200+ partner agencies (pantries, shelters, soup kitchens); call before you go to confirm hours and requirements. Home Delivery applications were listed as closed when the page was read.
When is Forgotten Harvest open?
Mobile pantry days, addresses and times are listed for the current week on forgottenharvest.org/find-food/ and change every week, including cancellations. The Community Choice Market is open Monday 9 AM-12 PM and 1-5:30 PM, Tuesday to Friday 9 AM-12 PM and 1-4 PM, closed Saturday and Sunday.
Does Forgotten Harvest cost anything?
Free, at no cost.
What do I need to bring?
If you can, bring reusable shopping bags or clean plastic bags to reuse.
