SNAP in Nevada: How to Apply

Apply online through Access Nevada, https://accessnevada.nv.gov/public/sign-in-page (linked from https://www.dss.nv.gov/Programs/SNAP/ as 'the quickest and easiest way'). Otherwise print the 'Application for Assistance' (Spanish: 'Solicitud de Asistencia Publica') and mail, fax or drop it off at your local Social Services Office, or pick one up there. SSI households may apply at a Social Security office.

Households meeting income and resource rules. The Rules & Eligibility page lists citizenship/non-citizen limits, Social Security number, income, deductions, resources, vehicles and persons on strike as the criteria; the detail behind each heading is on that page. Households applying for TANF or Medicaid can apply for SNAP at the same time.

Nevada does not publish an income table on the page we read. Do not use another state's numbers: they differ. Apply anyway — the state decides, and rent, utilities, childcare and medical costs are deducted before they compare.

'Information Needed to Process Your Application' (Spanish 'Informacion Necesaria Para Procesar Su Solicitud') should be read before applying; at the interview the case worker asks for proof of certain information. The specific document list is in that linked handout, not on the page.

If your household has little or no money and needs help right away you may get SNAP within 7 business days. If approved, the EBT card with the monthly amount arrives no later than 30 business days from the date the office received the application. Nevada says 'business days', not the federal '30 days / 7 days' wording.
