You may qualify if you earn low wages, are unemployed or part-time, are a child, are a student, get other assistance (Colorado Works, SSI), or have income under 200% of the federal poverty level. Each county human services department determines eligibility and authorizes benefits. Proof of income: 30 days of earned income (pay stubs, employer statement with pay per hour and hours per week), bookkeeping records if self-employed, agency letter for unearned income (Social Security retirement or disability, SSI, VA pension or disability, unemployment, child support, alimony, private retirement). Proof of identity: driver licence or state ID, birth certificate or Social Security card, work or school ID, voter registration card. Proof of medical expenses only if over 60 or disabled: billing statements or repayment agreements, Medicare card showing Part B, mileage or transport to appointments, itemised receipts. Documents can be uploaded to PEAK or MyCOBenefits, handed in, or mailed.

Yes, with those words: the county human services office has 30 days to determine eligibility after you apply, and you may be eligible for expedited SNAP within 7 days if you have less than $100 in cash and less than $150 in monthly earnings, or your housing expenses exceed your monthly income, or you are a migrant or seasonal farm worker. A phone interview may be requested; in person on request.

Two figures on this page look out of date: the maximum monthly allotments are explicitly the 1 Oct 2024 values ($292 / $536 instead of $298 / $546), and the ABAWD age range is still given as 18 to 56 with the 2023 Fiscal Responsibility Act as the latest change - it does not reflect the July 2025 federal law that other states in this batch describe (age up to 64/65, exempting child's age lowered to under 14).
